It’s Saturday I have a little more time to put dinner together. I was a little nervous because it’s my first time making Jambalaya. My mom’s is AMAZING which means I’m pretty much measuring mine against hers. Scott and I are both in for the night and I figured it makes a great date night meal — just an idea 😉
Since I’ve been planning our meals a week in advance I’ve been happier with what we’ve been eating. It’s amazing how many different dishes you can think up when you’re actually creating a menu! This has also eliminated the need to grab something quick from a fast food chain or repeating the same go-to dishes; it gets expensive and BORING. I tweaked a recipe from Chungah’s blog. I love her ideas so much.
It’s been a rough few days because my family’s been sick 🙁 Baby Girl and Scott are still sick, while I’m recovering. We spent the weekend in bed watching movies and keeping Baby Girl’s fever at bay. I had to drive around the block a few times to get her to fall asleep, tonight.
While the baby was asleep I got the idea to create envelopes for each of our expenses. I don’t know about you but I’m a visual person and thought it would be a great idea for me to see and physically place checks or cash in the envelopes. It’s so easy to make payments online with a card but how often do you go and look at your online banking? I used to be an avid user of online banking; I’m not quite sure when I fell off of the wagon. And I’m so not a check registrar kind of girl (even though I should be). For me, seeing everything in Numbers is a lot easier. I see where we begin the month and where we end it.
The baby’s down for the night so I’ve finally got some time to post my easy recipe for Crock-Pot or slow cooker chicken and dumplings. I hadn’t made it in a while so I wasn’t sure if it would turn out well but Scott LOVED it! I hope you enjoy it as well.
As my maternity leave winds down, I’m trying to get things in order so that our ship can continue on. We’ve had to make some adjustments this past month because Scott lost his job. It’s so easy to see the negative in the situation but we’re focusing on the positive. For one, he lost his job by being honest. Two, he’s taking time to work on his spirituality (and the family’s), as well as expand his ministry. And three, we won’t have to worry about childcare while he’s off.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I decided to add a signature to my posts. I think it adds a more personal touch. I found a really cool website called My Live Signature where one can create their own. It’s really easy. All you do is click “Start Now” at the top and let the site lead you to greatness!
You have the option to create one using their wizard, upload a photo of one you have, or draw directly on your screen. I’m not that technologically advanced so I opted for the simplest route: using their wizard. And voila! I have a neat little blog signature.
I’ve been going back and forth about what to name my blog. No, it can’t stay Some Stuff or Whatever forever. I actually came up with the name at work. My co-workers told me I say “whatever” a lot. As a joke, I told them I’d open a business and call it “Some Stuff or Whatever.” When I picked up blogging, again, I couldn’t think of a good name so I used that as a placeholder. LOL.
Many who know me know that I love H&M. When I received their email about deals under $20, last week I had to act. I was able to find the top three pieces. From left to right: a black peplum top with silver detail ($14.99), a black houndstooth wrap skirt ($19.99), and a glittery fuchsia peplum top ($9.99). I spent under $50 for all three with free shipping!
The time has finally come: I organized the bomb shelter we use as our closet. When I got married, I thought I got rid of a lot of things I no longer wear but I guess I was mistaken. Scott’s told me time and time again that we don’t really share a closet; he just borrows a corner for his things. LOL! You guys, I’m not a pack rat by any stretch of the mind. I just appreciate clothing and shoes. Anywho, I think it’s a good idea to spring clean, if you will.
