Since I have a case of writer’s block at work, I’ll update you all on my pregnancy. I’m so happy to have made it through the 1st Trimester relatively unscathed. It got a little rough for a while: lots of fatigue, food aversions, nausea, headaches, and cramps. There were times when I couldn’t even imagine getting out of the bed. One morning, I heard my alarm go off and I almost cried. I had absolutely NO energy and NO desire to even move. Scott told me to just use one of my sick days, which I did and I stayed in bed all day. The only time I peeled myself from the cool sheets was to use the bathroom. Scott practically force fed me soup and crackers because I had no appetite. Those days are behind me and I couldn’t be more excited.
For this 2nd Trimester, I plan on being more active. I don’t want to pack on 60 lbs. like some women do. So, I’ve decided to walk and go on light hikes. I’ve even gotten on the stationary bike a few times. It feels good to actually want to move around. But along with the good came some less than desirable things. Insomnia has decided to be my BFF and I’ve been having trouble falling asleep. I toss, turn, get up and pee five times a night… I just can’t get comfortable. It’s become quite a nuisance. Last night, insomnia took some time off and allowed me to fall asleep at a reasonable hour and actually get rest. I’m still a little tired but definitely not how I was before.
This past Sunday, I felt little flutters by the baby. I think it was probably trying to get comfortable because Scott and I had a big breakfast and I got my appetite back. I packed in 3 eggs, 3 pieces of Turkey Bacon and a buttermilk biscuit. It felt GREAT to finally eat and not gag or get full from 3 bites. It felt so cute and weird. I’m still in disbelief that there’s a little life inside of me.
