Countdown to Debt-Free

Paid in full stampHi, All!

I couldn’t wait to blog about this: we paid of two bills in the last week! I’m so happy — can you tell? Just an update about what’s happening in my life: I had a horseback riding accident last Friday. Talk about bummer. Needless to say, my stressful week at work did not end with the fun trip Scott and I had planned for the last couple of months. To bypass the accident and go right to our debt update skip ahead to the fifth paragraph.

My [Unpaid] Review of Instacart

This is NOT a paid review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I paid for all of my groceries, as well as the fees associated with using the app.

Hi, All!

Saturday afternoon, I felt like the laziest person on the planet. After my daughter and I had returned home from service, I put her down for a nap. Naturally, I thought I should take a nap while she was asleep. After a bunch of tossing and turning because I knew I had a butt load of things to do, I decided to get out of bed. I went in the kitchen to make a list of what we needed from the grocery store because I hadn’t really gone shopping in a couple of weeks since we’d been out of town and then had our convention. As I was making my list, I thought about having our groceries delivered because I had some things to do around the house, plus the baby was asleep (read: I was feeling lazy).

Why I Love Blogging

Hi All,

I just wanted to take a little time to share why I blog. I know that the blogging sphere is pretty saturated but I don’t do it to become some huge personality. I honestly want to do what I enjoy — writing — and collaborate, as well as share ideas with others. And if I’m able to help support my family from blogging, I welcome it.

Let’s go waaaay back for a moment. I started blogging in 2008 while I was a staff writer at the community college I attended. I really wanted to just give my input on pop culture and current events that I couldn’t contribute to the school paper. I used the platform Blogger and to be real, it hasn’t changed much since I last used it – LOL. Then, I switched over to WordPress and never looked back.

Lose Weight with Just Dance

Hi, All!

I’ve procrastinated far too long. If you’re like me you set out to lose weight (or get in shape) and end up falling off the wagon. Getting fit certainly isn’t the easiest thing to do but it feels like the right thing to do. I want to feel good about myself — inside and out. I decided to document this challenge I’ve assigned myself. The reason being inspiration and encouragement, as well as accountability. On the days I feel I’m not making progress, I can read my blog, see progress photos, and draw encouragement to keep going. I also want to encourage others who may need it, too.

Journey to Less Debt Update

Hi All,

So, it’s been a while since I posted about our journey to less debt (and hopefully debtless). I figured now is a good time for an update. Ideally, I’d like to post about it on a monthly basis but it would probably be more realistic if I made quarterly updates. This is something I find myself passionate about because I absolutely HATE being in debt! Before I got married (and had to buy a new car) I enjoyed minimal debt. The only debts I had when Scott and I were first married were my student loan and a single credit card.

Setting Blog Goals

blogging goals

Hi All,

I’ve returned! I can’t believe I haven’t posted in almost a year. Life comes at you fast! I was so busy with work, our toddler, and just existing. Since the last time I posted we’ve gone on a few vacations, had a couple of deaths in our family, and I left my old employer. The latter felt AMAZING! I’ll get into that with a later post.

The purpose of this post is so I have goals for my blog in writing. I’ve never really set goals for my blog and I believe that’s where the problem was: I haven’t worked toward anything. Really, I started my blog to have an avenue in which to vent or pop out ideas. However, when I saw that people were interested in what I had to say, I started promoting it on my social media profiles. Now, I’m at a point where I want to feel a sense of accomplishment with this project.  Below are just a few of my blogging goals that I feel will help it grow. These are just MY goals. You have to figure out what you want out of your experience and be realistic about how to get there.

Eliminate Debt without Loans

LAST PAYMENTHi, All!

I found a really cool website called Undebt.it. As you know, Scott and I are working to get rid of our debt (you can read about that here). According to The Simple Dollar the average American household carries about $7k in credit card debt alone. You guys, think about auto loans, student loans, and other miscellaneous debts on top of $7k in credit card debt — that’s absolutely crazy!
